H0w to Steep Your Tea.
When in doubt, steep for 3 minutes.
But if you want to get the best flavour and benefits from each tea, here’s our cozy cheat sheet:
Black Tea
Bold and classic. Best when it hits that just-right level of rich.
Water Temp: Just below boiling (around 95–100°C / 200–212°F)
Steep Time: 3–5 minutes
Tip: Add milk or sweetener after steeping to avoid bitterness
Green Tea
Delicate and light—but easy to overdo.
Water Temp: 75–85°C / 170–185°F
Steep Time: 2–3 minutes
Tip: If it tastes bitter, your water was too hot or steeped too long
Oolong Tea
The perfect middle ground between green and black. But make it smooth.
Water Temp: 85–95°C / 185–205°F
Steep Time: 3–5 minutes
Tip: Oolong can be re-steeped 2–3x with fresh water each time
Herbal & Wellness Blends (including rooibos, chamomile, mint, etc.)
Caffeine-free and forgiving—steep to your heart’s content.
Water Temp: Boiling (100°C / 212°F)
Steep Time: 5–7 minutes
Tip: Longer steep = more flavor and benefit, especially for root-based blends like ginger or turmeric
Pu-erh Tea
Deep, earthy, and rich—this one loves hot water and longer steeps.
Water Temp: Boiling
Steep Time: 4–6 minutes
Tip: Rinse quickly with hot water before steeping to “wake up” the leaves
Iced Tea Tips:
Use double the tea, then steep as normal
Pour over ice or chill in the fridge
Sweeten while hot if needed (honey dissolves better warm)
